Working at Marlborough Summer
Who are our Camp Counselors?
Marlborough Summer utilizes talented high school and college students to assist and inspire our K-12 summer school participants. They are provided with extensive training and are mentored and supervised by Administrative Coordinators. Our Camp Counselors are expected to approach their roles with a seriousness of purpose, a love of learning, a joyful spirit, and a strong desire to work with children.
Who can apply?
High school and college students who are 16 years-old or above by June 1, may apply to work at Marlborough Summer School. Applicants must be able to commit to our five-week program, and a week of training. Each summer, Marlborough Summer School selects approximately 60 camp counselors who demonstrate dedication, energy, organization, and leadership skills and display the desire to work with K-9 students.
What are the commitments and responsibilities?
Marlborough Summer Camp Counselors are expected to:
- Commit to working with a diverse population of faculty and students;
- Be conscience workers who show initiative and fulfill their respective responsibilities to create a safe, educational, and enjoyable environment for our students;
- Commit to ongoing reflection and support of the program and students;
- Contribute to the life, spirit, and community of the Marlborough Summer School program.

Marlborough Summer Leadership Program
The Leadership Development Program is designed to nurture future camp leaders while strengthening our overall camp community. Through a mix of hands-on learning, guided practice, and team-based activities, participants build essential skills they will use both during the summer and throughout their lives. The program focuses on developing strong communication and leadership abilities, fostering responsibility and professionalism, and building confidence and independence. Students gain meaningful experience in camper supervision, practice effective teamwork and creative problem-solving, and cultivate empathy—all to ensure they are fully prepared to transition into successful camp counselors.
The Marlborough Summer Leadership Program application will be available in February for students, space is limited.
